Matteo Ferrari is an Italian footballer who currently plays as a central defender for Montreal Impact.
Matteo embarked on his youth career at Real SPAL moving to Internazionale in 1996. However, for a four-year senior stint with the Nerazzuri, he spent three seasons out on loan at Genoa, Lecce and Bari. Ferrari made his Serie A debut playing for Bari in a match against Fiorentina in August 1999. In 2001, he enjoyed better fortune at Parma where he immediately cemented his place as a starter and made a total of 81 league appearances for three seasons. In between 2004 and 2008, Ferrari played for Roma amassing 78 matches for these years. In the 2008/09 season, he played 33 games in Genoa colours and spent the next two seasons at a Turkish club Beşiktaş. In 2012, the player moved to Montreal Impact.
Matteo Ferrari played 27 international matches for the Italy U-21 team. He featured in 7 games of the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. Ferrari was called up to the senior Italy side in a match against Turkey in November 2002. He hasn’t earned a single international cap since 2004.
