Maximilian Beister is a German footballer who currently plays as a right winger for Hamburger SV. He was born on September 6, 1990 in Göttingen, Germany.
He played for VfL Lüneburg before joining HSV`s youth system in 2004. In the season 2008/2009 Beister was promoted to the reserves and on August 21, 2008 he was rewarded for his efforts with a debut against FC Magdeburg. In that match the team suffered a 1-0 defeat. Due to high competition Maximilian had to struggle for a regular place and was finally plonked on the bench. But with the appointment of Rodolfo Esteban Cardoso as a new manager the young talent received much more playing time. The cultured winger hit 11 goals in 41 appearances for the reserves.
In 2009 HSV handed a first professional contract to the youngster. He performed in two matches before being sent to the reserves again. In order to gain experience and develop his game, Maximilian spent two seasons on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf.
It was the breakthrough season for the talented player. He shone in the competitive 2. Bundesliga campaign, netting 8 goals and making 11 assists. He became the league top goalscorer.
He won international honours for Germany at U19, U20 and U21 levels.
