André Mexer is a defender of Nacional. He was born on 8 September 1987 in Maputo, Mozambique.
In 2006 Mexer started playing professionally for Desportivo Maputo where he had been trained at the youth academy. During four years the footballer played for his hometown club sometimes staying on the bench when it was necessary. Mexer possessed excellent qualities of the centre back which allowed him to become one of the best players of Desportivo Maputo in this position.
In 2010 Mexer caught the eye of different European clubs, including the Portuguese outfit Sporting. Desportivo Maputo was satisfied with the preconditions under which Sporting wanted to purchase the player, and the parties immediately started to discuss the details of the contract. In the summer 2010 the clubs reaches an agreement, and Mexer sealed the second deal in his career, this time with the Portuguese side Sporting. After moving to this European country, André took part in several trainings with the first team. The club’s management decided to send him on loan where the defender could gain necessary experience without adverse consequences for Sporting.
From 2010 to 2012 Mexer played for the Portuguese club Olhanense where he took part in 39 matches overall. In 2012 the footballer penned an agreement with Nacional where he continues to play until now.
Since 2007 André Mexer has featured in 20 matches for the Mozambique national football team.
