Mikkel Andersen is a goalkeeper of Reading. He was born on 17 December 1988 in Herlev, Denmark.
In 2006 Mikkel penned his first contract and started his career in Danish football. The goalkeeper made seven appearances for Akademisk Boldklub during one season and drew the attention of various European clubs, including English side Reading. The deal was agreed in 2007 and Andersen officially transferred to the new club.
However, the keeper did not manage to make any appearances for Reading, because he was sent on loan to Torquay United. Mikkel was given an opportunity to come on the pitch three times before continuing his career in Rushden & Diamonds, where he featured in three games as well. In 2008 Andersen managed to play for one more temporary team, Brentford, where the goalkeeper made only one appearance.
In 2009 Mikkel went on six-month loan to Brighton & Hove Albion and took part in five matches. In the summer 2009, the goalkeeper finally came to the right place, where he could perform as a regular. Bristol Rovers completed a two-year loan move for the footballer, who made 58 appearances during his spell.
In the summer 2012, Mikkel was sent on loan to Portsmouth for one month. In 2013 the goalkeeper had a spell with native Randers.
From 2007 till 2009, Andersen was capped six times for the Denmark national U-19, U-20 and U-21 teams.
