Mitsuru Nagata is a Japanese defender currently playing for Urawa Red Diamonds in the J. League Division 1. He was born on 6 April 1983 in Shimizu-ku, Japan.
Mitsuru started out his senior career with Kashiwa Reysol in 2002. He made only 6 league appearances during his debut season at the club but in the next season he got a regular place in the starting lineup. In the 2005, Nagata was given little playing time and that became a catalyst for his move to Albirex Niigata in 2006. He made a total of 119 appearances for his new team during a five-year stint. In the 2011 season, Nagata joined Urawa Red Diamonds and plays there today.
Mitsuru Nagata earned his first full cap for Japan in a friendly match against Guatemala football national team. He also featured as a substitute in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup final match.
