Nilton Santos is a former footballer. He was born in 1925 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the family of a fisherman. When he was a child, his friend and he organized a football team to play football. He had a trial at Botafogo, which was a success and was offered to join the team, where spent his entire playing career. Santos made his debut on 21 March 1948 in the match against América.
He played for Botafogo between 1948 and 1964 and represented the Brazil national team from 1945 to 1962. He featured in the World Cup finals in 1954, 1958 and 1962, throughout his international career he earned 75 caps. Santos Played as a full back. Brazil was South American champion in 1949, in 1958 and 1962 the team won the World Cup, though Santos wasn’t used in the finals.
