Oleksiy Polyanskiy is a midfielder for Shakhtar Donetsk currently on loan at Illichivets. He was born on 12 April 1986 in Avdiyivka, Ukraine.
Oleksiy began his professional career in 2003 at the second team of Metalurh Donetsk. After 27 appearances and 3 goals for the B-squad he was finally promoted to the first team of MetaDon where he played until 2006, totaling 34 appearances and 1 goal.
In 2006 Polyanskiy joined Shakhtar Donetsk for 320.000 Euros. However, the midfielder made only 13 appearances for the club, spending much time out on loan or as a backup player. In 2008 Oleksiy was sent on a six-month loan to Illchivets Mariupol, but there he featured in only 4 matches. Back at the Miners the player would not get a spot in the starting lineup, making only a few appearances that season. In February 2010 Polyanskiy was sent out on loan to FC Zorya Luhansk. There Oleksiy made 42 starts and scored 4 goals. Polyanskiy was loaned to Illichivets once again for the 2011/12 season, totaling 28 matches and one goal. In May 2012 Polyanskiy returned to the Miners after playing two years on loan at different clubs. During the second half of 2012/2013 season Oleksiy featured for Illichivets on loan.
In 2005 Oleksiy won 5 international caps for the Ukraine U-19 team, and in the 2006/07 season he played 10 matches for the Ukraine U-21 team.
