Peter Michael Whittingham is a midfielder of Cardiff City. He was born on 8 September 1984 in Nuneaton, England.
Peter spent last two years of his youth career in the academy of Aston Villa, where he performed for the junior squad. The footballer took part in various youth competitions and managed to reach a professional level in 2003, when he penned his first senior four-year contract with the club.
However, Whittingham was mainly used as a substitute and was not given much playing time during his début season. In 2005, the midfielder went on loan to Burnley and took part in seven fixtures for the team before completing a temporary move to Derby County, where he featured in 11 matches. After returning to his parent Aston Villa, Peter took his tally to one goal in 56 games by 2007.
In the summer 2007, the footballer sealed a long-term deal with Cardiff City and became one of anchor midfielders, who amassed 63 goals in 252 fixtures for ‘The Bluebirds’ as of January 2013.
From 2004 till 2007, Whittingham was capped 17 times and contributed three goals for the England national U-21 squad.
