Raúl Tamudo is a Spanish professional striker currently playing for Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish La Liga. He was born on 19 October 1977 in Santa Coloma, Spain.
Raúl spent the majority of his career at Espanyol. During his early years at the club, he played predominantly for their reserve team. In 1998, Tamudo cemented his place in a starting lineup of the first team and played there for 12 years amassing 129 goals in 340 matches for Espanyol. He sparked furor during a final match of the 1999/2000 Copa del Rey as he scored a spectacular header having stolen the ball from Atlético Madrid goalkeeper and thus leading his team to cup victory. Tamudo cut a brilliant figure scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 UEFA Cup win over Austrian Grazer AK. In the 2006/07 season, the Spaniard scored a brace in a 2-2 draw with giant Barcelona which made him the all-time top scorer for Espanyol.
In the 2010s, Tamudo’s fortunes changed. The things went bad at Espanyol and he moved to Real Sociedad in the 2010/11 season. In the 2011/12 campaign he played for Rayo Vallecano and then had a short spell at Mexico’s C.F. Pachuca, his first spell abroad. In January 2013, Tamudo returned to Rayo and plays there to date.
Raúl Tamudo earned 13 caps to the Spain national team in between 2000 and 2007.
