Ricardo Abel Barbosa Ferreira was born on 3 December 1989 in Braga, Portugal.
In 2006 Ricardo started his youth career the academy of his hometown club Braga. For the 2007/2008 season he was offered to be a fourth-choice goalkeeper of this team. In 2008 Ricardo Ferreira sealed a professional contract with Braga. The first season wasn’t very successful for the young goalkeeper because he failed to come on the pitch. For the 2008/2009 season the player was loaned to the Portuguese side Olhanense as a substitute. In 2009 Ricardo moved to Olhanense on a regular basis. However during two years with this club he made only 1 appearance.
In 2010 Ricardo Ferreira signed for the Portuguese club Marítimo where he plays until now. The footballer keeps training and improving his skills and earns a place in the starting XI more often. Since 2010 Ricardo has featured in more than 50 games for Marítimo.
In 2009 Ricardo Ferreira took part in 2 games for the Portugal U-21 national football team.
