Róbert Vittek is a Slovak striker who was born in 1982. Róbert started his senior career in Slovan Bratislava.
During the time spent in this club Vittek was the runner-up of the Slovak Cup and the Super Liga. The striker caught the eye of German clubs, and in 2003 he completed a move to Nuremberg. In the very first season the footballer helped his club achieve promotion to the Bundesliga.
In 2007 Nuremberg won the German Cup but one year later the club was relegated from the Bundesliga, and Vittek joined French side Lille. After a season and a half in France, Róbert was loaned to Ankaragücü from Turkey. In 2010, when the loan contract expired, the club purchased Vittek for a fee of €2.1 million.
In 2011 Vittek penned a contract with Trabzonspor. In 2013 the Slovak switched to Istanbul BB.
In September 2013 the 31-year old striker returned to Sloakia and joined his former club Slovan Bratislava.
Since 2001 Róbert Vittek has been playing for the Slovakia national team. The player took part in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Vittek scored Slovakia’s first goal in the final stage of the World Cup. He’s best remembered for scoring a brace against Italy which allowed Slovakia to progress to the knockout stage. In the same year Róbert Vittek was voted the best Slovak footballer.
