Robinho was born on 25 January 1984 in São Vicente, Brazil.
Robinho’s professional career started in 2002 after he had signed a contract with Santos F.C. after spending the youth years with the club’s academy. During the debut season Robinho performed actively and creatively despite his lack of experience. The Brazilian played confidently and scored a lot. From 2002 to 2005 Robinho de Souza made 111 appearances and netted 46 goals.
Robinho was at his best when Real Madrid signed him by paying Santos 24 million euros. Starting from debut matches for Real Madrid, Robinho became known for his flashy style of play. For 3 seasons Robinho was in Los Blancos’ starting eleven, but still was unable to repeat his previous success. For 3 years he scored 25 goals in 101 matches.
In 2008 Manchester City F.C. pursued an active policy of rejuvenation of the team, sponsored by the new owner. Robinho was in the candidate list. Finally Real Madrid agreed to transfer the Brazilian for 42 million euros. Robinho signed a long-term contract with Manchester City, but things didn’t get better than in the Royal club. At first he was in the starting lineup, but as time passed his appearances became scarce, until it was clear that Robinho is ready to move away from the club. In January 2010 Robinho returned to Brazil and Santos F.C. on loan.
In the summer of 2010 Italian A.C. Milan acquired Robinho de Souza for 18 million euros and offered a long-term contract. Robinho played in almost every game of Milan since 2010 and netted 20 goals in 62 appearances.
In 2004 Robinho played 8 matches for the Brazilian U-23, and since 2003 he’s been a permanent player of the Brazil national team, having scored 26 goals in 90 matches.
