Romário is one of the most prolific Brazilian strikers who was named 1994 FIFA World Player of the Year and won World Cup Golden Ball.The forward surpassed the mark of 1000 goals in his playing career.
Romário started his playing career at the club level in a small side Olaria and there he was noticed by Vasco da Gama scots. Subsequently he was invited to the side and won with the team two state leagues. In 1988 the forward was purchased by PSV and helped the Dutch giants to win the domestic league in 1989, 1991 and 1992.
In 1993 he moved to Barcelona where he became the season’s top scorer and helped the club to win the League title.
Romário also had stints in such clubs as Flamengo, Valencia, Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, Al-Sadd, Miami FC, Adelaide United and America-RJ.
Romário made more than 85 appearances for the national side and scored 71 goals.As a member of the Brazilian national team, Romário won the silver Olympic medal in Seoul in 1988, World Cups of 1990 and 1994.
