Rubén Castro

Rubén Castro Martín is a football player currently performing for a Spanish side Real Betis on a position of a striker.

He began his career performing for his hometown club Las Palmas before his services were purchased by a Galician side Deportivo de la Coruña in 2004.

The season 2001/02 he spent in Las Palmas scoring his first goal against Real Madrid on the 64th minute of a La Liga game when the striker came in as a substitute. Regardless the fact that Las Palmas were eventually relegated to the second division Rubén became the best goal-scorer of the Segunda netting 22 times.

As soon as the move to Depor was finished Rubén Castro was loaned to Albacete for a season. Whilst playing for the side he made 22 appearances with three goals. In 2006, the striker went on loan to Racing de Santander but soon left the squad due to the playing time shortage.

During the winter transfer period of 2007 the player was loaned again this time to Gimnástic de Tarragona. There he started very well with three goals in three games however Gimnástic eventually were demoted in their status with Rubén returning back to Deportivo.

Due to occasional character of his appearance on the playing ground in the season 2007/08 Rubén Castro was sent on loan to Huesca. Having taken the pitch 44 times during the campaign he netted 14 times which was crucial for his club as they stepped up a level by the end of the season.

Castro was again loaned by Rayo Vallecano in August of 2009. The striker had to perform in the Segunda for one more year helping the squad to reach 11th position in the league table with 14 goals scored.

In 2010 Rubén was sold to Real Betis. Being a part of a notable attacking line Castro-Molina-Emana showed classy performance as the trio scored 50 goals bringing his side back to the Primera after two years in the Segunda.

On 27 August 2011 Castro scored his first in four years La Liga goal. Betis encountered Granada in a local derby. Facing Mallorca in the next game he performed the same trick.
