Sammy Ameobi

Sammy Ameobi is a striker of Newcastle United. He was born on 1 May 1992 in Newcastle. Sammy began his youth career in late age. In spite of that, he really quickly adapted to training in the Newcastle United academy, which he joined in 2008. He already had a certain level, but Ameobi needed the professional approach of the coaching staff so that to canalize his skills. During three years in the academy Sammy got stronger, more self-confident and prepared for the senior career.

In 2011 Newcastle United made a good offer to the young footballer and he was happy to pen a contract with his native club. In the first season the head coach of ‘The Magpies’ trusted Sammy with making occasional appearances both in the starting squad and as a substitute. By the first half of 2011/2012 the striker took part in 12 matches and continues his solid performance up till now. In 2013 he was sent on loan to Middlesbrough.

In 2011 Ameobi was invited to the Nigeria national U20 team and the England national U21 team. He made two appearances in each squad.
