
Semih Kaya was born on February 24, 1991 in Izmir, Turkey. He joined the youth team of Petkimspor at the age of 10 and three years later moved to Helvacı Bld. Gençlik ve Spor. Having spent another 2 years at Altay SK, the young footballer went to play for Galatasaray. He was only 15 at that time. Galatasaray became the club Semih Kaya started his career at.
In the early 2008/2009 season the centre back drew the attention of Inter Milan FC. Many other clubs followed his career as well, for example, Arsenal FC, Barcelona FC. On February 19, 2009 the footballer played his first Turkish Süper Lig match against Istanbul BB.
From January 2010 till the end of the season Semih Kaya was loaned by Gaziantepspor. In the summer of 2010 he went on loan to Kartalspor. When he returned to Galatasaray, the player had to spend some time on the bench. He scored his first goal on January 7, 2012 in a fixture against Samsunspor. In the season of 2011/2012 Semih Kaya took part in 30 matches and was one the players of the championship-winning team. His jersey number is 26.
Semih Kaya made his international debut on February 29, 2012 for the Turkey National Football Team in a game against Slovakia.
