Sergei Ovchinnikov is a retired Russian goalkeeper that was born on 10 November 1970 in Moscow. He started his playing career in Dynamo Moscow at the age of 11 and played for various youth sides for eight years. In 1990 he made his debut at the professional level in Dynamo Sukhumi and featured in 33 matches for the club. A season later the shot-stopper sealed a deal with Lokomotiv Moscow. His spell in the capital side lasted for six years as Ovchinnikov appeared in 190 matches.
The player moved to Portugal in 1998 and there he played for Benfica, Alverca and Porto. In 2002 he returned to Lokomotiv Moscow and stayed there for three years, making 156 appearances.
After a short spell in Dynamo Moscow the keeper finished his playing g career and went into coaching. Since 2007 he worked with such clubs as Lokomotiv Moscow, Dynamo Kyiv, Kuban Krasnodar, Dynamo Bryansk and Dinamo Minsk.
