Sergio Busquets is a FC Barcelona box-to-box midfielder. He was born on July 16, 1988 in Sabadell, Spain.
Sergio’s youth career began in the CD Badía youth team and afterwards in Barberà Andalucía. In 2003, Sergio joined the Lleida academy where he studied for four years. In 2003, he joined the academy of another Spanish club – Unió Jabac – where he remained for two years till 2005. In 2005, the young midfielder drew the attention of FC Barcelona scouts who invited Sergio to their academy on trial. After a successful test match Busquets was offered to continue studying at the club’s academy, which he accepted.
In 2006, Sergio was offered to sign a professional contract with FC Barcelona where he studied for the last year. In 2006, Busquets joined Barcelona C where he played a single match.
In 2007, Sergio joined the club’s second reserve team. In the 2007/08 season he played as the club’s main footballer having appeared in 32 matches and scored 1 goal.
In 2008, Sergio had his most memorable career moment so far: he was offered to play for the club’s first team. For four years Busquets has been playing in the club’s main squad being one of the key players in the starting line-up. Since 2008 he has appeared in 111 matches and scored 2 goals.
In 2008-2009, Sergio Busquets played for the Spain national youth team in 3 matches and scored 1 goal. Since 2008 Busquets has been invited to play for the Spain national team. He appeared in some 40 matches and won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012.
