Sérgio Ricardo da Silva Pinto, Sérgio Pinto for short, is a Portuguese footballer born on 16 October 1980 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
He started out his football grooming at FC Porto youth department and actually promised well as a midfielder there. When Sérgio was 12 years old, his family moved to Germany where a young footballer joined U-15 team of TuS Haltern, but in 1995 left it to enjoy better fortune with FC Schalke 04. There Pinto played in B-youth national team for four years before being promoted to the first team in 1999. During 1999-2004 seasons, he appeared in 23 games including four UEFA Cup matches for Schalke 04.
In 2004, Sérgio Pinto moved to the German second division club Alemannia Aachen where in total he scored 10 goals in 87 games. Moreover, with Alemannia he featured for the DFB-Pokal clashes and for seven UEFA Cup matches. In 2005/06 season, he even broke into the Bundesliga with the club, scoring one of the most spectacular goals of the campaign.
In the summer 2007, Pinto signed a three-year contract with Hannover 96, but got off on the wrong foot with the club getting into a tangle thick and fast. Still, a skilful midfielder bent every effort to prove his worth in the first team. Overall, Sérgio Pinto scored 19 goals in 160 appearances for the Reds.
After seven years with the German club Pinto switched for UD Levante in 2013.
