Shunsuke Nakamura is a Japanese midfielder currently playing for Yokohama F. Marinos in the J-League. He was born on 24 June 1978 in Yokohama, Japan.
Shunsuke is probably one of the most successful players in Asia. He embarked on his professional career at Yokohama F. Marinos in 1997 and helped them to win the J. League Cup in 2001. In 2002, Nakamura moved to Europe where he joined Italian side Reggina. But he enjoyed even better fortune playing for the Scottish giant club Celtic. Nakamura recorded three consecutive Scottish Premier League titles, the Scottish Cup and two League Cups together with the club. In 2007, he was named the Celtic Player of The Year and was even nominated for Ballon d'Or that year. In the 2009/10 season, Nakamura played for La Liga side Espanyol and in 2010 he returned to Yokohama F. Marinos where plays today.
Shunsuke Nakamura was a regular international for Japan since 2001 till 2010 amassing 24 goal in 98 matches for the national team. He was a pillar of the team who won two Asian Cups in 2000 and 2004. Nakamura was awarded AFC Asian Cup Most Valuable Player title in 2004.
