Simão Mate Junior is a Mozambican midfielder currently playing for Levante in the Spanish La Liga. He was born on 23 July 1988 in Inhaca, Mozambique.
Simão began his youth career at his native club Ferroviário in 2005. In 2007, he was noticed by the Greek side Panathinaikos and signed his first professional contract with the club that year. Simão had a brilliant start at the team pulling off the debut season with 27 first-team matches. He sparked furor during a UEFA Champions League qualifier as he scored a spectacular volley against Sparta Prague. The 2009/10 season was a great success for Simão as he recorded the Superleague Greece title and the Greek Cup together with Panathinaikos. In the 2012 season, Simão found himself in the Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng and in March 2013 he moved to Levante UD where plays till the date.
Simão is capped to the Mozambique national team since 2007.
