Simone Perrotta is an Italian midfielder, mainly associated with a long service to Roma. He was born on 17 September 1977 in Ashton-under-Lyne, England.
Simone’s professional career started in 1995 when he signed his first professional contract with Regina FC. For the first three years Perrotta made 77 appearances and scored 1 goal for the Italian club.
In 1998 Simone became of interest to Juventus FC and signed a long-term contract with the club. Unfortunately, Perrotta featured in just 5 games in 1998/99 season, and didn’t manage to show his best midfielder’s performance.
In 1999 the Italian midfielder signed a contract with AS Bari and played for two years in the club. During this period the footballer netted 1 goal in 56 appearances for the club.
In 2001 Perrotta joined another Italian club, Chievo. It was a successful spell as he turned into a key midfielder for the team. Throughout three years the Italian footballer made 95 appearances and scored 6 goals for Chievo.
In 2004 he attracted attention of not only Italian, but also the leading European clubs. Italian Roma made Perrotta the best offer, which he couldn’t reject. In the summer 2004 Simone officially became part of AS Roma, where he performed until 2013. From 2004 Simone Perrotta played a total of more than 250 matches, netting 36 goals for Roma.
Simone retired at the end of 2012/2013 season.
From 1998 to 2000 Simone played 6 matches for the Italy U-21 team, scoring 1 goal. From 2002 to 2009 he represented the Italian national team 48 times and netted 2 goals.
