Sulley Muntari is a midfielder for A.C. Milan. He was born on 27 August 1984 in Konongo, Ghana.
Sulley’s youth career started at Liberty Professionals F.C. and continued at Udinese Calcio, with the latter becoming a milestone for Muntari’s future professional career in European pro football.
In 2002 Sulley received an offer to join the home club as a senior squad member and on a regular basis. The young Ghanaian accepted and was rather quickly included in the starting eleven. For 5 years at Udinese, Sulley featured in 125 matches and scored 8 goals.
In 2007 Sulley continued his career at Portsmouth F.C. as the English club paid Udinese 7.1 million pounds for Muntari and signed him for 5 years. The 2007/08 season at Portsmouth was rather spectacular for the young midfielder, with 4 goals in 29 appearances.
In 2008 it was reported that F.C. Internazionale Milano was preparing a summer offer for the midfielder. The club paid Portsmouth 16 million euros for the Ghanaian and signed with him a long-term contract. Until the summer of 2011 Muntari was a regular in the starting lineup, with 70 appearances and 7 goals, but was still sent out on loan to Sunderland A.F.C. During the 2011/2012 season Muntari made only 9 appearances.
In winter 2012, Muntari joined A.C. Milan on loan. Now the Ghanaian midfielder frequently appears on the field as one of Milan starting eleven.
In 2001 Muntari made 7 appearances for the Ghanaian U-20. Since 2002 Sulley Muntari has been playing for the Ghanaian national team, with 73 appearances and 17 goals.
