Thiago Alcântara is a Bayern Munich midfielder. He was born on April 11, 1991 in San Pietro Vernotico, Italy.
Thiago’s early career began in 1995 when he first tried to practice football. His first football home was the Flamengo academy where Alcântara spent only a year till 1996. In 1996, Thiago moved to the Ureca academy where he studied for long 5 years to become one of the academy’s best and most talented alumni. In 2001, CR Flamengo tried to get the young talent back to their academy. The attempt turned out a success only after quite a sum of money had been paid. In 2001-2005, Thiago Alcântara once again became one of the academy’s brightest students to be spotted by FC Barcelona scouts. In 2005-2008, Thiago continued studying at one of the world’s best football academies.
After Alcântara became one of the best juniors as well at the Catalan club academy the management decided to sign a professional contract with the player. Thiago was immensely happy as he had perspectives and opportunities for the football future right in front of him. First, Thiago joined the club’s reserve team where he played for three years. In 2009, Thiago was included in the line-up for several matches of the FC Barcelona’s main squad. Over the three years with the reserve squad Thiago played 59 matches and scored 3 goals.
Since 2009 Thiago has featured in 68 matches for FC Barcelona main squad but was not able to substitute Xavi. In the summer 2013 Pep Guardiola lured his former player to Bayern Munich and Thiago completed a transfer for the fee of £21.6m.
In 2007-2010, Thiago played for the Spain national youth teams ranging from U-16 to U-21 with the total of 35 matches and 12 goals. Since 2011 Thiago Alcântara has made 3 appearances for the Spain national team.
