Thomas Müller. Biography
Thomas Müller is a Bayern Munich and the Germany national team player, who was born on September 13, 1989 in Weilheim, Germany. Müller is capable of playing in a variety of forward positions – as an attacking midfielder, centre or second striker, and winger. His team finished third in the 2010 World Cup, he is the winner of the Golden Boot and was declared the Best Young Player of the tournament.
Thomas made his Bundesliga debut for Bayern Munich in a match against Hamburger SV on 15 August 2008 and has been playing for the club ever since.
On 12 September 2009 Müller scored his first two goals in a match against Borussia Dortmund. Three days later, the footballer amassed another brace in a Champions League game against Maccabi Haifa. Thomas was named as the best Bundesliga rookie of the 2009/10 season with 13 goals and 10 assists.
In 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons Müller had a permanent spot in the roster and was considered to be an indispensable part of Bayern Munich.
Müller has been praised for his technique and excellent dribbling skills. He is famous for his goalscoring ability as well as his precise passing. Thomas is good at heading the ball, plus he is renowned for his excellent positioning. In fact, Müller, together with Ribery and Robben, was the main striking force of Bayern in 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons.
On 14 November 2007, the young footballer received an invitation to the German national U-19 team to play in the match against England.
On 3 September 2008, Müller played for the Germany U-20 team in a match against Austria and scored a goal. Later, he refused to represent Germany at youth levels so that he could concentrate on his Bayern side’s performance.
Thomas’s debut match for the U-21 team was against Turkey on 11 August 2009, and ended in a 3-1 defeat. However, on 17 November 2009, Müller helped the U-21 team to thrash San Marino 11-0.
On 3 March 2010, Thomas received a call-up from the national team. His first match for Germany was against Argentina at his home stadium, Allianz Arena. Müller was substituted in the 66th minute for debutant Toni Kroos. The German squad lost 0-1.
Soon, the whiz played excellently at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The German team came third, thrashing England 4-1 and Argentina 4-0 on the way to semifinals of the tournament. Müller was declared the top goalscorer of the World Cup with 5 goals and 3 assists.
Thomas is being compared to his namesake, legendary German striker Gerd Muller, and is predicted to become as successful and famous as the nation’s Bomber.
