Timo Hildebrand was born on 5 April 1979 in Worms, West Germany.
He was groomed in Stuttgart during 12 years and became one of the leaders of the club. In 2007 the goalkeeper and his team clinched the title of Bundesliga champions. Besides, Timo set a record of 884 minutes without conceding a goal, which is a crowning achievement in German football.
July 2007 became the crucial point for the keeper. He left Germany, joined the Spanish side Valencia and spent only one season there, which did not prevent Hildebrand from lifting the Copa del Rey with his new team in 2008. Soon after that, the footballer cancelled a contract with the club on a mutual agreement.
On 10 December 2008, the goalkeeper went back to Germany and became a regular of 1899 Hoffenheim. However, two years later Timo found himself in the Iberian Peninsula again, this time signing for Lisbon side Sporting CP.
He spent one season in Portugal before was offered a move to Schalke and he accepted the offer before 30 June 2012.
Hildebrand was capped seven times for the ‘DFB-Eleven’ and picked up the bronze medal of the 2006 World Cup with it.
