Tom Cleverley is a midfielder of Manchester United. He was born on 12 August 1989 in Basingstoke, England.
Tom began his youth career in 1998, when he joined the Bradford City academy. He played for the local club youth team till 2000. In 2000 the young footballer was noticed by Manchester United, invited to a demonstration and eventually, to the club academy. Cleverley accepted the offer as it opened new opportunities in football for him. During nine years till 2009, Tom diligently trained and played for the MU youth teams at a high level.
In 2009 it was time to start playing football professionally. He was invited to join the first team and sign a long-term professional contract. In 2009 Cleverley began to take part in the first team matches, coming on the field on rare occasions. The same year the management decided to send him on loan so the midfielder could get playing practice.
Leicester City was the new temporary club for six months and Tom managed to make 15 appearances and score two goals there.
Cleverly spent the whole 2009/2010 season on another loan, this time in Watford. Starting from the first rounds of the season, Tom got actively involved in the first team matches, acting like a key player. In 2009/2010 Tom took part in 33 games and netted 11 goals.
In 2010 Manchester United management took a decision to send Tom on loan again. Wigan Athletic was the new temporary club and Cleverly spent the 2010/2011 season there. He made 25 appearances for the temporary team and found the net three times.
After returning to the ‘Red Devils’, Tom was supposed to fill in the gap that Paul Scholes’ retirement left, so Alex Ferguson let him on the field. Cleverly has already made ten appearances for his club.
In 2009 Tom was capped for the England national U-20 team and scored two goals in one match. From 2009 till 2011, Cleverly took part in 16 matches of the England national U-21 team.
