Tom Lees is a defender of Leeds United. He was born on 18 November 1990 in Warwick, England.
Tom started to play football in the academy of Leeds United and penned his first professional contract with the club in 2008. Lees’s début for the main squad came in 2009, but the management decided to send him on loan to Accrington Stanley so that the defender could gain the necessary playing experience. The footballer made 39 appearances for the temporary team during his spell and impressed the head coach, who said he was ready to sign Tom for the following season. However, Leeds United managers had their own opinion about that and extended the player’s contract till 2012.
In August 2010, the footballer sealed a temporary deal with Bury and fired four goals in 45 fixtures for the club during the 2010/2011 season, which earned him Bury Player of the Year award.
After returning to ‘The Peacocks’, Lees became an anchor defender and netted two goals in 42 games for the team during the 2011/2012 season.
In 2012, the footballer’s contract was extended till 2015. In April the same year, Tom was voted Leeds United Young Player of the Year.
From 2012, the defender has been capped three times for the England national U-21 squad.
