Tommy Smith is a player, who is capable of operating both as a winger and a striker. He was born on 22 May 1980 in Hemel Hempstead, England.
Tommy started his professional performance in 1997, when he penned his first senior contract with Watford after two years in the academy of the club. The footballer managed to gain the head coach’s confidence in no time and revealed his skills netting 33 goals in 149 fixtures for ‘The Hornets’ during six years.
In 2003, English side Sunderland lodged a tempting bid for Smith and agreed his signing in the summer the same year. The player fired four goals in 35 games for the team during one season and sealed a deal with Derby County, where he found the net 20 times in 90 matches during two seasons.
In 2006, Tommy returned to his boyhood Watford and amassed 27 goals in 124 fixtures for the club during three years.
In 2009, Portsmouth secured the footballer’s services, but was not impressed with his performance, as Smith kicked only one goal in 19 games for the team during one season. In 2010, the player put pen to paper of a contract with London side Queens Park Rangers and scored eight goals in 50 matches by the summer 2012, when he transferred to Welsh side Cardiff City. In 2014 Smith left the club.
In 2000, Smith was capped one time and contributed one goal for the England national U-21 squad.
