However former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams, who made in excess of 650 appearances for the club, claimed Wayne Rooney is not mentally strong enough to make a decisive impact at the Emirates stadium.

He said: “I’m not sure Wayne Rooney could handle London. That would be a massive risk for me. I don’t think it’s a question of finances, it’s his temperament and mentality. London is a different animal. It takes a different type of player to handle it.

“Wayne is ¬a super player and I would love to see him at the Arsenal. But I’m not sure about him mentally, off the pitch and his ¬professionalism. I wouldn’t like to spend my money on Wayne,” he added.

Mon, 24 Jun 2013 10:40:32 +0000 Basil Naumov 198530 at https://www.footballtop.com https://www.footballtop.com/news/arsenal-legend-tony-adams-reckons-man-utd-star-rooney-not-mentally-strong-enough-move-emirates#comments Arsenal legend Tony Adams challenges club’s decision to appoint Sir Chips Keswick as their new chairman https://www.footballtop.com/news/arsenal-legend-tony-adams-challenges-clubs-decision-appoint-sir-chips-keswick-their-new

Legendary Arsenal defender Tony Adams rubbished club’s decision to nominate Sir Chips Keswick as their new chairman.

Former chairman Peter Hill-Wood chose to resign from the position due to health problems and Arsenal hierarchy decided British businessman Keswick is the right man to fill in vacant post. Adams said: “Chips is a great guy but not a very imaginative choice by the owner - and he is 73. If they just wanted a figurehead, they should have gone for me. It would have been a better visionary decision than Chips.

“They should be lining up the new manager. Chief executive Ivan Gazidis is in a tricky situation and could do with some help. It’s time that Arsenal won something again, even the FA Cup or League Cup. But I can’t see it, to be honest. They are still not good enough in certain areas of the team. And they are miles off the title,” he added.

Tony Adams has made 669 outings for the Gunners during his 19-year stay at the Emirates stadium, winning 10 major trophies.

Mon, 24 Jun 2013 08:40:02 +0000 Basil Naumov 198512 at https://www.footballtop.com https://www.footballtop.com/news/arsenal-legend-tony-adams-challenges-clubs-decision-appoint-sir-chips-keswick-their-new#comments
