Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade, commonly known as Tostão, is a retired Brazilian striker born on 25 January 1947 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Tostão spent the majority of his professional career at Cruzeiro. He played for the top-flight Brazilian club for 7 years amassing 249 goals in 378 league matches for that period. For his outstanding performances Tostão was named the Campeonato Mineiro’s topscorer for three consecutive seasons. Moreover, he holds the record of being Cruzeiro’s all-time topscorer with 249 goals.
In between 1966 and 1972, Tostão was a regular international for the Brazil national team amassing 32 goals in 54 games. He was a crucial part of the 1970 World Cup winning squad.
