Václav Pilař is a Czech footballer born on 13 October 1988 in Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Czechoslovakia.
Václav began his football grooming at FC Hradec Králové after he arrived from RMSK Nový Bydžov section. In 2006 a skilful midfielder earned a call-up to the first team to perform in the Czech second division. He contributed much to the club rankings with his scoring 9 goals in the 2009/10 season. Overall, he scored 27 goals, amassing 111 appearances for FC Hradec Králové. In 2011/12 campaign Pilař was sent out on loan to FC Viktoria Plzeň where he scored 7 goals in 25 games. In 2012 the young promising player joined VfL Wolfsburg but did not make a debut for the German club and was transferred to Freiburg in the summer 2013.
At the national level Václav Pilař came up through U-18 (scoring one goal in 9 games), U-19 (no goals in 10 appearances) and U-21 (one match and no goals) national teams. He made his senior international debut on 4 June 2011 in a match against Peru. His maiden goal wasn’t long in coming: Pilař fired a ball into Montenegro’s goal in the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier play-off securing his side a 2-0 win. Moreover, he struggled for Euro 2012 trophy up to the quarter-final before being defeated by Portugal. Overall, he scored 3 goals in 14 appearances for the Czech Republic national team.
