Vazha Tarkhnishvili is a retired Georgian defender born on 25 August 1971 in Gori, Georgia.

Vazha began his professional career with Dila Gori in 1991. He played for the club for seven years amassing 211 league appearances. After a short spell at FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi in the 1998/99 season, Tarkhnishvili joined Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol where he enjoyed the better days of career. The Georgian defender collected 11 Divizia Naţională titles out of 13 seasons with the club. He also recorded 6 Moldovan Cups and 4 Moldovan Super Cups. He was a vital player for Sheriff Tiraspol as they won the CIS Cup in 2003 and 2009. All in all, Tarkhnishvili scored 29 goals in 487 appearances for the team until his retirement in 2012.
