Víctor Hugo Montaño is a Colombian striker currently playing for Montpellier in the French Ligue 1. He was born on 1 May 1984 in Cali, Colombia.
Víctor embarked on his professional career with his native side Millonarios in 2002. In 2004, he moved to France where he joined FC Istres freshly promoted to the Ligue 1. He scored 2 goals in 33 matches but his club dropped down in class again and Montaño transferred to Ligue 2 team Montpellier. It was Montpellier where the striker brought out his full potential. In the 2008/09 season, he helped them to win promotion to the top flight. Overall, Montaño scored 43 goals in 159 league games during a five-year spell.
In 2010, the Colombian forward signed for Rennes and plays there to date. In January 2011, he recorded his first brace for the club in a 7-0 thrashing of AS Cannes. In August 2011, Montaño was an instrumental figure during the Europa League play-off match against Red Star Belgrade as he scored a winning goal for his team. In the second leg with the same opponent, Víctor scored an opener in a 4-0 win.
After three years with Rennes the Colombian switched for Montpellier in August 2013.
In 2008, Víctor Hugo Montaño was awarded his first full cap to the Colombia national team.
