Wiyam Amashe was born on 8 August 1985 in Buq’ata, Golan Heights which is a disputed territory. The footballer holds no official citizenship but rather an Israeli Travel Document. Due to a special permission from FIFA, Wiyam featured for Israel in spite of the interest from the Syrian Football Association. When the footballer goes to a match abroad he has to get a visa because he doesn’t hold a passport.
Wiyam is a product of Ironi Kiryat Shmona’s youth system. In 2006 the football player signed his first professional agreement with this club. All in all, he took part in 65 games and notched 16 goals for Ironi Kiryat Shmona.
From 2008 to 2009 Wiyam was on loan to Maccabi Ahi Nazareth where he scored 6 goals in 25 games. In June 2011 Amashe penned a four-year agreement with national champions Maccabi Haifa. Wiyam made his debut in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round against FK Borac Banja Luka and kicked 3 goals. Since 2011 Wiyam Amashe has been playing for the Israel national football team.
