Yaya Touré began his football career playing for the Belgian side Beveren (2001), where he played for two and a half years. Then Yaya signed for Metalurh Donetsk and spent a year in Ukraine. After that, he transferred to Olympiacos, but only for one season as he was sold to Monaco in 2006. The versatile midfielder drew the attention of Barcelona scouts. It was Barcelona where Touré moved in June 2007.
After three years with the Spanish club, Yaya signed a five-year contract with the English side Manchester City. During the very first season, he netted two essential goals for his new team. A year after, during the 2011 FA Cup semifinal, Touré scored a goal and secured a victory of his club over Manchester United (1-0). It was the goal that took Manchester City to the FA Cup Final. In the FA Cup Final, Touré fired the winner into the Stoke City net and ended the Man City’s 35-year wait for the cherished trophy.
Yaya Touré is the Côte d'Ivoire international with over 80 caps so far.
