Yuki Abe is a Japanese midfielder currently playing for Urawa Red Diamonds in the J. League Division 1. He was born on 6 September 1981 in Ichikawa, Japan.
The product of JEF United Ichihara youth system, Yuki joined the first team of the club in 1998. It’s a tidbit that he was almost 17 years old when he made his professional debut and at that time he held the record of being the youngest player in J-League. Abe recorded two successive J. League Cups during his span at United Ichihara. Overall, he scored 47 goals in 268 matches in all competitions for the club for 9 seasons.
In 2007, Abe moved to Urawa Red Diamonds. He helped them to win the 2007 AFC Champions League. His strong performances sparked interest of the English side Leicester City and Abe transferred to the English Championship club in 2010. However, in two years Abe returned to his former club Urawa Red Diamonds and plays there today.
Yuki Abe was a youth international for Japan at U-20 and U-23 levels. He is capped to the senior Japanese side since 2005.
