Željko Brkić plays as a goalkeeper for Udinese. He was born on July 9, 1986 in Novi Sad, SFR Yugoslavia.
Brkić was trained at the academy of the football club Vojvodina where he had moved from Indeks Novi Sad youth team. In 2004 he started his professional career in Vojvodina. During the debut season Željko appeared on a football field several times but in the next year he was loaned to Proleter Novi Sad. For two years he took part in 31 matches for this team.
After returning from loan Brkić continued to play for Vojvodina until 2011. During this time he played in 96 games. In 2011 Željko caught the eye of many European football clubs because he really played on a high level in his native country. In the summer 2011 the Serbian goalkeeper signed a contract with Udinese, for which he hasn’t played yet. The thing is that in the summer 2011 when the contract was signed Željko was loaned to Siena where he took part in more than 20 games. In the summer 2012 Brkić returned to the Friuliani’s football team.
From 2007 to 2009 Željko Brkić took part in 12 games for the Serbia U-21 national team. Since 2010 he has made 5 appearances for the Serbia national football team.
