Zoumana Camara

Zoumana Camara – is a central defender of French FC Paris Saint-Germain. He was born on 2 April 1979 in Colombes (France).

Camara’s professional football career started in 1996 when he signed a contract with AS Saint-Étienne. The footballer represented that club for two seasons from 1996 till 1998. In two years the defender appeared in 32 matches scoring 1 goal for the team.

In 1998 the football player was called up to Italian club Internazionale. Zoumana was glad to play for one of the strongest Italian clubs side by side with outstanding footballers and signed a contract. However, he did not get a chance to feature for ‘nerazzurri’ and spent two years on loan.

From 1999 till 2000 the French defender was out on loan at Empoli FC for which he participated in 12 matches in half a year. Then Camara moved to SC Bastia where he featured in 27 games and netted 1 goal.

In 2000 Zoumana returned to his motherland and joined Marseille. During the season he took part in as many matches as possible thus appearing in 42 games and scoring 1 goal.

In 2002 the football player continued his career at RC Lens that he joined on a two-year deal. Yet in the ensuing season a loan move was materialized once again and this time it was Leeds United AFC. It happened so because the head coach did not utilize the player in the majority of club matches.

In English club Leeds United Camara played as a reserve defender appearing periodically in the starting lineup. During the 2003/04 season Zoumana participated in 13 matches and netted 1 goal for the club.

In 2004 the footballer received a call-up from AS Saint-Étienne – the club where his professional football career began. The second attempt was more successful and effective. A French defender became one of the major team players appearing in 108 matches.

One of the strongest French football clubs – Paris Saint-Germain set their sights on Camara after his excellent performances. The footballer accepted the offer from Ligue 1’s club and in the summer of 2007 he officially joined the team. Since 2007 the player has taken part in more than 130 matches.

In 2001 Zoumana Camara was once called up to the France national football team match.
