ND Gorica is a Slovenian club from the town of Nova Gorica founded in 1947.
Until 1991, the club competed in various Yugoslavian leagues. After Slovenia got independence in 1991, they began to play in the newly formed Slovenian PrvaLiga. It’s a tidbit that Gorica is one of only three clubs along with Maribor and Celje who took part in all 21 PrvaLiga seasons since the league inception.
The team had a glorious 1995/96 campaign as they claimed their first Slovenian PrvaLiga title and Slovenian Supercup. The 2000s saw a fruitful period for the club as they began the decade with two consecutive wins. Gorica enjoyed even better fortune when they were crowned the Slovenian champions three seasons in a row, from 2004 to 2006. Their outstanding domestic results earned the club spots in European championships. Thus, Gorica featured in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and Intertoto Cup.
Gorica players are often nicknamed the Roses and have this flower depicted on their logo. They play their home matches at Nova Gorica Sports Park which can host up to 3,066 spectators.
