Power Dynamos is a football club in Zambia, located in Kitwe. It was founded in 1971 by Mr Arthur Davies. Their home ground is Arthur Davies Stadium with a capacity of 12,000. Copperbelt Energy Corporation is the team’s sponsor.
During its history Power Dynamos won six Zambian Premier League titles: in 1984, 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2011. Seven times they were the Zambian Cup winners: in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1990, 1997, 2001 and 2003. Twice they won Zambian Challenge Cup and Zambian Barclays Cup titles. In 2004, 2009 and 2012 they were Zambian Charity Shield champions and in 2003 they gained Zambian Coca Cola Cup.
Among the team’s international achievements are African Cup Winners’ Cup which they won in 1991 and Rothman Cup, won in 1984. Thrice Power Dynamos competed in the CAF Champions League: in 1998 and 2012 they reached the Second Round and in 2001 they reached the First Round. Two times the team competed in African Cup of Champions Clubs and out of 10 appearances in the CAF Cup Winners’ Cup they once became the champion and that was in 1991.
