History and achievements
Wadi Degla is an Egyptian Premier League club founded in 2002 in Cairo.
The club started to play in the lower Egyptian divisions. In the 2008/09 campaign, Wadi Degla was promoted to the second tier. The 2009/10 campaign brought the team true glory as they finished atop of the Egyptian Second Division and broke into the top flight. However, for the time being, Wadi Degla spent only one full season in the Premier League finishing 12th then. In the previous 2011/12 campaign, the club managed to play only 14 matches and then the tournament was cancelled due to the Port Said Stadium disaster in February 2012.
Wadi Degla has a strong youth football academy. The club is closely linked with the English giants Arsenal and Belgian side Lierse.
The team play their home matches at the 22,000 seater Cairo Military Academy Stadium.
