Claudio Daniel Borghi Bidos is a retired Argentine football player. He was born in 1964 and at the beginning of 1980s he started his playing career in Argentinos Juniors.
In 1987 he was signed for AC Milan but didn’t play for the team being sent out on loan to Como for the 1987/88 season. In 1988 Claudio Borghi left Milan, went to Switzerland and soon he returned to Argentina.
In South America he joined River Plate, then Flamengo, Independiente, Independiente, Huracán, Colo-Colo, Platense, Correcaminos UAT, O’Higgins, Audax and the last club he played for was Santiago Wanderers.
In the 1985/86 season Borghi played for the Argentina national team, when they won the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
Claudio Borghi started his coaching career with Chilean club Audax Italiano in 2004. The next two seasons he took charge of Colo-Colo and between 2006 and 2007 he brought them to four consecutive league championships. In 2008 he had a short spell in Independiente. In 2009 he headed Argentinos Juniors, saved them from relegation and led the team to the 2010 Clausura Championship victory.
Before becoming the head coach of Chile national team, Borghi managed Boca Juniors in 2010. But in February 2011 he took over as the coach of Chile national team.
However, in late 2012 he was sacked due to poor performance.
