David Ronald Jones is a football manager from England. He was born in 1956 in Liverpool, England. Jones began his senior playing career at Everton, then switched to Coventry City, but suffered an injury. When he recovered, he was sent on loan to a Hong Kong team Seiko and then completed a permanent move. During his stay with the club Seiko won Hong Kong First Division League twice and one Hong Kong FA Cup. The 1983/84 season Jones played for Preston North End and then retired from playing.
He began his managerial career as an assistant at Southport, then worked at Mossley. In July 1990, he took charge of Stockport County’s youth team and in March 1995 he headed Danny Bergara. In 1997, Dave Jones was appointed the manager of Southampton, in 2001 he took care of Wolverhampton Wanderers and from 2005 to 2011 he was the head coach of Cardiff City. In March 2012, Jones was appointed the manager of Sheffield Wednesday and guided the club for a year and a half before being released in December 2013.
