Diego Sebastián Cagna is an Argentine retired footballer. He was born in 1970 in Buenos Aires. After the academy of Argentinos Juniors he went on playing with the senior team. In 1992, he moved to Independiente and spent there four years, making 117 appearances he scored 13 goals. In 1996, he transferred to Boca Juniors. He had two spells there: from 1996 to 1999 and from 2003 to 2005. During his time with the club, as a part of the team, he won three Apertura titles and one Clausura, in 2003 they won Copa Libertadores, two Copa Sudamericana titles, Recopa Sudamericana and Intercontinental Cup.
From 1999 to 2002 Diego Cagna played for the Spanish side Villarreal CF and after that he had a short period in Mexico, playing for Celaya. Then he had his second spell at Boca Juniors and retired in 2005.
In 1992, Diego Cagna made his first appearance for the Argentine national team and up to 1999 he earned 19 caps.
In December 2006, he took charge of Tigre, thus giving a start to his managerial career. In a season he led the side to the top flight and in 2007 they finished the Apertura runners-up, their highest ever position. Under the guidance of Cagna the team performed very well but the Apertura 2009 they finished bottom of the table and faced relegation. Cagna moved to Colo-Colo but didn’t stay there for long and then switched to Newell’s Old Boys. Shortly after that he left the team and took charge of Estudiantes.
In July 2013 Cagna returned to coach his former club Tigre but was released several months later.
