Jan Urban is a retired Polish striker born on 14 May 1962 in Jaworzno, Poland.
Jan started out his professional career with Zagłębie Sosnowiec in 1981. He got off to a fine start scoring 23 goals in 113 appearances for four seasons. His career really picked up steam when Urban joined Górnik Zabrze and won three consecutive Polish League titles and the 1988 Polish Super Cup together with the club. His terrific performances sparked interest of the Spanish Osasuna who signed Urban in 1989. Overall, the Polish striker scored 48 goals in 168 matches for the club. In 1995 and 1996, he played for Valladolid and Toledo and then spent a season in the German Oldenburg. Moreover, Urban made 57 international appearances for the Poland national team.
In 2003, Jan Urban embarked on his managerial career at Osasuna B. In between 2007 and 2010, he was at the helm of Legia Warsaw leading the team to the Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup in the 2007/08 season. Then he had short coaching spells at Polonia Bytom and Zagłębie Lubin and in May 2012 Urban returned to coach Legia Warsaw again.
In December 2013 Urban left the club.
