Jürgen Norbert Klopp is a football coach and former German footballer. He was born on June 16, 1967 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Klopp began his playing career in 1986 for TuS Ergenzingen (earlier he played for youth football clubs). Later, in 1987 he played for FC Pforzheim and also that year he joined FC Eintracht from Frankfurt-am-Main. Afterwards Klopp played for such football clubs as FC Viktoria Sindlingen, SG Rot-Weiss Frankfurt 01 and in 1990-2001 – for 1. FSV Mainz 05 where he made the total of 325 appearances and scored 53 goals.
On February 28, 2001, Jurgen began to coach 1. FSV Mainz 05 as an interim coach and his good work resulted in contract extension. He worked there till June 30, 2008.
He had his biggest success with the club in 2005-2006 when the team made it to the UEFA Cup qualification round.
On June 30, 2008 Klopp finished coaching 1. FSV Mainz 05 to join Borussia Dortmund.
He has become a prolific Dortmund leader and guided the club to Bundesliga titles in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons, DFB-Pokal title in 2011/2012, German Supercup in 2013 and UEFA Champions League final in 2013.
