Peter Houston is a Scottish retired footballer and a coach. He was born in 1958 in Baillieston, Scotland, and began his senior playing career at Airdrieonians but shortly after that he joined the youth team of Livingston United. From 1979 till 1983 he played for Albion Rovers and playing in 123 matches he scored 33 goals. Then Houston had a spell at Falkirk, where he featured in 135 matches and scored 33 goals staying with the side until 1986. Then he moved to Dumbarton and played for them duringtwo years. After that he returned to Falkirk and spent there tree years. His last club before retirement was East Stirlingshire.
In 1993, Peter Houston became the coach of Falkirk’s youth academy, then worked at Brockville Park as an SFA Development Officer. In 1995, he took up managing Hearts’ reserves and in 2000 became the caretaker of the first team. When Craig Levein was appointed the head coach, Houston began assisting him, later moving to Leicester City with Levein. In October 2006, they moved to Dundee United. When Levein left the club in 2009 Houston became caretaker and later was appointed the manager. He led the team to the 2009/10 Scottish Cup win.
Houston left the club after 4 years of work.
