Vahid Halilhodžić was born in 1952. He is a retired Bosnian football player and a manager.
His playing career started in Velež Mostar where he spent ten years with a six-month loan in Neretva Metković. In 1981 he moved to French side Nantes Atlantique and in a season Nantes won the French championship and with 27 goals in 36 appearances Vahid Halilhodžić was named the league’s top scorer. In 1986 he joined Paris Saint-Germain for one season, after that he retired.
Halilhodžić performed well for the Yugoslav Under-21 team and the Yugoslav national team.
He started his managerial career in Velež Mostar in 1990, then he headed Beauvais, Raja Casablanca, Lille OSC, Stade Rennais, Paris Saint-Germain, Trabzonspor, Ittihad Jeddah, Côte d’Ivoire and Dinamo Zagreb.
In June 2011 he became the head coach of the Algeria national team. At 2014 World Cup Vahid saw his team make it past the group stage after beating South Korea and sharing points with Russia. In the last 16 match against future champions Germany, Algeria managed to make it till extra time to lose 1-2.
After the World Cup Halihodzic left Algeria national team and took charge of Trabzonspor.
