The Guinea national football team represents the team in international football and in friendly tournaments and it is controlled by the Federation Guineenne de Football.
The team is nicknamed Syli nationale that means the National Elephants. Today the team is headed by Michel Dussuyer and the most eminent players are Titi Camara, the team’s top scorer, and Kemoko Camara who has 68 caps.
The National Elephants have never qualified for the World Cup finals, but had a success in the 1976 African Cup of Nations finishing runners-up.
At the beginning of the 21st century Guinea is one of eight best African teams. The team reached the quarterfinal in the African Cup of Nations thrice but failed to qualify in 2010.
The team’s best result was in 1972 in the game with Mauritania, 14-0, and the biggest defeat happened in 1988 and 2008.
